D-ID, a prominent player in the video technology space, has acquired Berlin-based startup Simpleshow in a move aimed at enhancing its service offerings and market presence. Indeed, D-ID only recently raised $60 million in funding, a clear indicator of the high confidence investors have in the company’s growth potential. This acquisition continues that historic progress.
Founded in 2008, Simpleshow has found a strong niche in the video creation industry. Big names like Adobe, Airbus, Microsoft and Deutsche Bank are part of Simpleshow’s customer base.
Simpleshow had originally reached out to D-ID with the idea of creating a strategic partnership. As talks wore on, both companies started seeing the possibilities for a deeper partnership.
“Simpleshow initially approached us for a strategic partnership. We saw that there was synergy between management teams and products,” – Gil Perry, CEO of D-ID.
The merger unites a strong and dedicated workforce of 140 employees. Their offices will merge in Berlin, Tel Aviv, and the United States. This meaningful expansion is expected to broaden D-ID’s operational firepower and speed the company’s evolution to profitability.
In light of this fast development and maturity of the new competitive landscape for video technologies, Simpleshow’s CEO Karsten Boehrs underlined the necessity for growth.
“To achieve scale and serve more clients internationally, we decided to build a SaaS-based tech platform,” – Karsten Boehrs.
The merger provides an opportunity for D-ID to utilize Simpleshow’s existing infrastructure and range of client relationships while bolstering its own product portfolio. In late 2017, Simpleshow released an online text-to-video tool for its corporate clients. This acquisition propelled the company ahead as a technology leader in the field.
D-ID is a cross-border company with presence in Berlin, Luxembourg, London, Miami, Singapore, Hong Kong and Tokyo. The purchase of Simpleshow is a big step for D-ID’s rapid growth strategy. It further solidifies D-ID’s leadership position in the video creation technology sector.
