San Francisco based startup Confident Security today announced that they’ve officially launched. Recognizably they call themselves “the Signal for AI” and recently announced a cutting-edge approach to privacy preservation in age of artificial intelligence. The venture-backed company recently came out of stealth mode, announcing $4.2 million in seed funding. That exceptional funding was raised from top-tier investors in Decibel, South Park Commons, Ex Ante, and Swyx.
Confident Security’s technology now centers around anonymizing that data by encrypting it and routing that through anonymization services like Cloudflare or Fastly. This process further distances servers from the underlying work or material. As a result, it takes the work out of protecting user privacy while you use AI tools. In an era where data privacy concerns are at an all-time high, the startup’s approach is a timely response to the rising demands for secure AI applications.
Co‐founded by their CEO, Jon Mortensen, Confident Security has been around for about a year. The company’s infrastructure has been put through extensive testing and external audit, which has validated the company’s infrastructure and found its system to be production-ready. Mortensen emphasizes the importance of privacy in the digital age, stating, “The second that you give up your data to someone else, you’ve essentially reduced your privacy.”
Confident Security is the new solution that fills this critical gap in the AI landscape. Our products offer powerful, easy-to-use solutions that empower every user to use AI safely with their data. Mortensen asserts, “Our product’s goal is to remove that trade-off.” The company’s approach to data transparency lets users dictate how their data is used, combating fears and building trust in AI applications.
In a press release announcing the investment, Jess Leao, a partner at Decibel, emphasized how important Confident Security’s mission is. She noted, “Confident Security is ahead of the curve in recognizing that the future of AI depends on trust built into the infrastructure itself.” This view highlights the startup’s focus on creating a safe space for users of AI-generated tools.
As companies increasingly rely on AI technologies, the risks associated with data exposure have prompted calls for more robust privacy solutions. Confident Security’s innovative approach aims to address these worries by making sure that sensitive data is protected the entire time it’s used.
Mortensen further explained the mechanics of their system, noting that users can define very specific parameters under which data should be decrypted. “So you can say you’re only allowed to decrypt this if you are not going to log the data, and you’re not going to use it for training, and you’re not going to let anyone see it,” he said. This dynamic not only gives users autonomy, but ensures that there is a clear and transparent basis for AI-generated collaboration.
Confident Security recently closed a Series A round and is excited and more focused than ever. Their goal is to be the first and primary leader where AI meets privacy. Groups and practitioners now encounter a confusing swath of data for non-use and AI for good rally cries. Solutions from Confident Security can have a tremendous impact on establishing user trust and helping protect users.
