ChatGPT has introduced an awesome new feature, “Your Year with ChatGPT.” It’s going to provide users with a personalized year-end review, much like Spotify Wrapped. This new feature is intended to capture you, our users and developers, experiences and interactions with the AI over the course of the year. Conversational memory will be available to everyone on all subscription levels, including free, Plus and Pro plan subscribers.
To install Your Year with ChatGPT, enable the “reference saved memories” feature in your settings. Then, enable the “Chat with reference to chat history” feature. Plus, they need to engage in a lot of conversation activity to even open up the feature. We plan to start the rollout in several English-speaking countries. This would include the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.
ChatGPT has clearly illustrated that this should not be an automatic opt-in feature or something users are coerced into using. Instead, it will be more visibly featured on the home screen, with users able to opt-in when they find it most convenient. Such a move would be consistent with the declared goals of user agency and privacy of ChatGPT.
We were very excited to see news about this new feature first reported by our friend Sarah Perez of TechCrunch. As a long-time journalist for more than a decade at TechCrunch, and before that at ReadWriteWeb, Perez has expertise in the industries of technology. You can email her at sarahp@techcrunch.com. In addition to the year-end review feature, ChatGPT plans to embrace adult content in 2026, signifying a broader shift in its content policy. It’s a great example of balancing the changing tide in what users need and want with staying in line with relevant regulations and laws.
Your Year with ChatGPT is like user engagement on steroids. It invites everyone to think about how they’ve interacted with the AI over the last year. This is one of the most compelling innovations to ChatGPT’s growing feature set. It provides a better window into personal usage patterns and creates a more intuitive and engaging relationship between users and the AI.
