Bevel Secures $10 Million Series A to Transform Health Access with AI

Bevel, a New York-based startup founded in late 2023, has successfully raised $10 million in a Series A funding round led by General Catalyst. The emerging company’s motto — health for all — sums up its mission. Their cutting-edge AI health companion aggregates data from a user’s wearables and lifestyle—such as sleep, fitness, and nutrition—to provide tailored personalized insights designed specifically for that user.

The founding team members are Grey Nguyen, Ben Yang, and Aditya Agarwal. Together, they’ve navigated uncharted territory many times before, which they bring to bear for the company. Nguyen led product efforts at Campus, an Altman-backed startup. Yang was very instrumental in pushing forward Opendoor’s machine learning initiatives. Agarwal, now a partner at South Park Commons, is deeply excited by Bevel’s mission. Their mission is to make all health intelligence available through open collaboration.

The appeal of Bevel’s AI health companion starts with its affordable price point of $6 a month or $50 a year. This pricing strategy aligns with Bevel’s mission to make health accessible, as Agarwal points out, “A $500 ring or band is out of reach for a lot of people.”

Since its launch, Bevel’s growth has been nothing short of incredible — it’s more than octupled in size over the last year. Today, it counts more than 100,000 quotidian active users. Each one opens the app an average of eight times a day—a staggering number! Our retention rate continues to be strong, over 80% at 90 days.

Nguyen says that the idea that inspired Bevel’s creation. He states, “Nothing pointed out what was actually causing my back pain, not even my doctors, which is crazy, right?” This is precisely why personalized health insights are so critically needed—to empower people with the knowledge and resources to take control of their own lives and health.

The startup’s goal isn’t just to deliver data, but instead create an ongoing connection to health. Nguyen elaborates on this philosophy: “We think of health as a continuous journey, not a phase.” This perspective aligns with Agarwal’s vision of “helping people become more intelligent about their own health,” which he refers to as their shared North Star.

General Catalyst’s initial investment is a positive signal that they believe in Bevel’s approach to reimagine the future of healthcare. Neeraj Arora from General Catalyst expressed his support for the venture, remarking that “Bevel’s mission to democratize health through intelligence and design deeply resonates with us.”

Bevel is workin’ hard to innovate, diversify, and educate their user base. It’s mission is to provide actionable, evidence-based information that helps people easily take control of and improve their health. Bevel is committed to changing the way people think about health and wellness. Armed with its innovative products and deep financial backing, the company is poised to turn the industry on its head.
