GameChange Solar just announced its biggest order yet for its new advanced tracker technology. This order joins a number of large orders for a very ambitious solar array in Benban, Egypt. Infinity Power pioneered this project to produce 258 megawatts peak (MWp) of renewable energy. This contribution helps advance Egypt’s national commitment to source at least 42% of its energy from renewables by 2030 and 65% by 2040.
Benban has garnered international attention and fame as one of the largest solar hubs in the world. The project’s location necessitates technology that can endure high temperatures and dusty conditions, common across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). GameChange Solar’s 1R × 4-string tracker design tailor fit the specific topographical and civic needs of the property. This unique adaptation ensures great performance even in harsh outdoor environments.
Hassan Allam Constructions is the project’s design-build engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) partner. Engg Hany Fayed, the managing director of Hassan Allam Constructions, stressed the importance of good planning. He emphasized how important coordination is for successfully carrying out large-scale projects.
“Benban continues to be one of the most strategic solar developments in the region, and projects of this scale require disciplined planning, predictable timelines and strong coordination across all partners.” – Engg Hany Fayed
As a sign of this momentous milestone, the solar project coalition in Benban recently hosted a formal signing ceremony to celebrate. The trust-based collaboration between GameChange Solar and its partners exemplifies a commitment to advancing renewable energy initiatives in Egypt.
To Anirudha Sharma, technical sales engineer at GameChange Solar, this project underscored the larger company’s regional approach.
“Working with Infinity Power and Hassan Allam on this project is an important milestone in our regional journey.” – Anirudha Sharma
GameChange Solar just ordered a new round. This increases the company’s total capacity in Egypt to more than 3 gigawatts peak (GWp) across several projects. The MENA regions’ total solar capacity now stands at 6.7 GWp. This hyper growth proves the trust of the market in their technology and execution capabilities.
Benban is turning into the world’s largest solar power complex. These cutting-edge innovations on this project showcase Egypt’s clear commitment to renewable energy and sustainability. The overall strategic importance of Benban assures that it will be at the forefront of the worldwide transformation to greener energy sources.
