End-Tech Triumphs at Regional Lego Contest with Innovative Robot

End-Tech, a team from Endon High School in Staffordshire, recently celebrated a significant achievement by winning their regional Lego contest for the second consecutive year. This five-member team, which included Malachi and Owen from earlier, put their strong engineering abilities on full display. With the addition of advanced color sensors, their robot provided them the competitive edge needed to take their victory to the national level.

The center regional contest had teams working against the clock to complete a series of challenges designed by local judges. End-Tech was a standout on this tricky task, earning major impressed points for the efficiency and grace of their robot’s performance. “We’ve swapped to a new coding software that uses Python so it’s much more accurate than it used to be,” said Malachi, highlighting the improvements made to their programming approach. Owen added, “We’ve got a whole different robot with colour sensors this time, that makes it a bit easier to use.”

The team spent hundreds of hours—after school and evenings—creating and developing their robot. Throughout the competition, they were constantly iterating on their invention, honing its features and functions to handle the competition’s complex and rigorous challenges. Their commitment brought some good fortune, as they edged out every other competing team on their heels, including an even more distant team from Bradford.

Malachi added that the competition was especially fierce this year. “The contest this time was tighter due to teams being better this year,” he remarked. James said that the experience was “nail biting,” and that stress and exhilaration were what shaped the day.

Congratulations to End-Tech for winning their region! They are now set to be ambassadors for Staffordshire at the first Lego League UK National Final, hosted in Harrogate later this year. What this championship means to the squad Their success not only spotlights their technical capabilities, but their teamwork and grit, too.

End-Tech is preparing for the national tournament. They’re so excited to show off their pioneering robot and their skills as they compete against the greatest teams from all over the country! Their journey reflects the potential of young engineers and the importance of STEM education in fostering creativity and problem-solving skills.
