End-Tech Triumphs Again to Reach National Final

End-Tech, a robotics team from Endon High School in Staffordshire B, have scored an amazing victory in their regional contest. This victory is their second consecutive victory at this level! The five-member team will now represent Staffordshire at the upcoming First Lego League UK National Final later this year in Harrogate.

The regional competition included teams from around the region competing for the title including a team from Bradford. Throughout the contest, teams earned points by successfully finishing a series of tasks laid out by a team of judges. One of the most exciting challenges had participants introduce their robot, built and designed especially for the day’s challenges.

Whether it was during school or after school, End-Tech students put in countless hours coding and building their robot. That commitment served them well, and they were able to make ongoing refinements to their machine during the three-week build-up. Malachi, one of the team members, reflected on the progress they achieved this year.

“We’ve swapped to a new coding software that uses Python so it’s much more accurate than it used to be.” – Malachi

This year’s competition was tougher than ever before. James, another teammate, called the day “nail biting.” Pair that with a much higher skill level between all of the teams and it made for a bigger challenge. Owen, one of their teammates, pointed out one of their robot’s biggest improvements.

“We’ve got a whole different robot with colour sensors this time, that makes it a bit easier to use.” – Owen

End-Tech’s winning experience in the competition proves their commitment and collaboration. It was this open-mindedness, creativity, and courage that gave them the edge over their competitors. With their eyes set on the national tournament, the team is not content and looking to continue to improve on what they have done so far.
