xAI Unveils Ambitious Plans at Public All-Hands Meeting

On June 23, 2026, Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company, xAI, held its first public all-hands meeting. The event was held in conjunction with TechCrunch Disrupt in Boston, Massachusetts. The meeting’s video was made available on X, revealing the company’s strategic direction, including its organizational restructuring and ambitious interplanetary projects.

During the roundtable, Musk revealed that xAI would divide into four core teams. While one team develops the Grok chatbot, another will take on the app’s unique coding system, which requires extensive stakeholder engagement. A third team works just on the Imagine video generator. This amazing platform has now changed the landscape and is creating a staggering 50 million videos per day. The fourth team is focused on a project named Macrohard.

“Macrohard is able to do anything on a computer that a computer is able to do,” – Toby Pohlen

Musk really hyped up xAI’s Imagine tool, though. Even in the last month alone, it’s generated more than 6 billion images, exemplifying what the new team model is capable of. The increase in productivity comes at the same time as a massive spike in engagement on X, where AI-generated porn became wildly popular. According to reports, an estimated 1.8 million sexualized images were produced within a mere nine days on the platform.

The convening also focused on xAI’s long-term goals. Musk imagined a moon-based factory that would churn out AI satellites for the Earth. This facility would include a lunar mass driver—essentially an electromagnetic catapult—designed to shoot these satellites into orbit. Musk’s thesis is that we can create a beneficial AI cluster that draws on this sustainable, massive solar energy. With the right infrastructure, this technology might someday even help humanity reach other galaxies.

The same company that had such ambitious plans recently went through some growing pains, including layoffs that were a product of its changing corporate structure. Musk hit on this prickly subject right near the top of the meeting.

“As a company grows, especially as quickly as xAI, the structure must evolve. This unfortunately required parting ways with some people. We wish them well in future endeavors.” – Elon Musk

The meeting revealed xAI’s product roadmap. It underscored the complicated and still-evolving relationship with the X/Kairos platform, which recently crossed the $1 billion mark in annual recurring revenue from subscriptions. That increase in revenue was credited to an aggressive marketing campaign over the holidays.
