Axpo Group, one of Switzerland’s largest energy companies, has signed a large ten-year PPA. They enlisted Enhol, one of the largest Spanish renewable energy operators, to help them structure this complex deal. The other is for 3.7 TWh of electricity produced from Enhol’s wind farms across that country under the pact. This is a big move for both companies as they continue to show their dedication to sustainable energy solutions.
Together, this deal will provide enough electricity to energize about 175,000 homes. It’ll better serve the rapidly increasing demand for renewable energy in the region as well. When complete, this partnership will save more than 160,000 tons of CO₂ emissions per year. This dramatic reduction reflects the profoundly positive environmental impact our unique partnership has begun to produce.
Ignacio Soneira, CEO of Axpo Iberia, highlighted the importance of the contract’s volume and length. He underscored that this is indicative of their knowledge and ability to tackle difficult, large-scale transactions amidst today’s tumultuous energy markets.
Founded in 2001, Axpo Iberia plays an essential role in the Spanish energy market. Representing domestic and international markets, running control center operations, and providing energy efficiency solutions are just some of the services that this company has to offer. In addition to electricity, the company provides gas, solar energy, biomass, and biomethane. Recently, Axpo Group has advanced in the renewable energy field in Spain. The firm has been deeply involved in multiple international wind-power projects.
Axpo Iberia has been a long term and trusted supplier to Enhol for more than 20 years. This remarkable partnership has developed during a time of unprecedented growth for the renewable energy industry. Diego and Gonzalo Oliver, the co-managing directors of Grupo Enhol, explained the significance of this agreement. According to them, “This agreement with Axpo strengthens our foundation and accelerates the strategic transformation of our renewable platform in Europe. This agreement is a testimony to our focus on fiscal discipline, multi-generational industrial blueprint and key partnerships with other world-class players.”
As partners in sustainability, Axpo Group and Enhol are committed to addressing climate change responsibly. Equally, they’re focused on providing better energy services to homes and families in every corner of Spain. The PPA proves that the company isn’t just paying lip service to renewable energy. More than anything, it underscores the importance of strategic coalitions across the energy economy in achieving the long-term sustainability agenda.
