CWP Europe has launched full commercial operations at its Studina solar power plant in Romania. The facility currently has an operational capacity of 174 megawatt-direct current (MWdc). This important advance marks an important turning point for the small company. It has already built more than 6 gigawatts (GW) of projects around the globe and is now developing more than 7 GW of projects under development. Ultimately, the Studina solar project represents a significant step toward achieving Romania’s energy independence while supporting the installation of sustainable energy solutions.
The 600-megawatt (MW) Studina solar facility in Romania will generate around 245,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) of clean energy each year. This amount of power output would be enough to power over 122,500 homes, indicating the large-scale project’s ability to transform the local community’s energy landscape. The facility will displace 220,500 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually, bolstering the Clean Power Plan and long-term sustainable energy initiatives.
CWP Europe worked hand in hand with Renalfa to make the Studina solar project a reality. Ultimately, the successful delivery of this project took a collaborative team effort, even lighting a path in demonstrating the strength of partnerships that this industry has to offer.
Alex Sekulovic, Chief Financial and Operations Officer—CWP Europe, said they were incredibly proud to have achieved this.
“CWP’s Construction team played a key role in the successful delivery of the Studina project, demonstrating strong coordination and disciplined execution throughout the most demanding phases of construction. Close collaboration with our EPC partners, Solarpro and Eximprod, ensured high quality standards, timely delivery, and full compliance with EHS requirements, with zero accidents recorded over the course of the project.” – Alex Sekulovic
The construction team’s dedication was vital in navigating the complexities of the project, reflecting CWP Europe’s commitment to operational excellence. As mentioned by AASHTO’s Viktor Garbev, how this initiative actually gets executed will depend greatly on the local teams and context.
“Enabled by our local teams, this project demonstrates our ability to acquire sites, form strong partnerships, add value through optimised permitting, and deliver real assets at scale in complex technical and regulatory environments.” – Viktor Garbev
CWP Europe has already reached much success in South East Europe. They’ve already completed and have under construction 938 MW of projects. With the agreement of the Studina solar facility in operation, the company’s portfolio grows from strength to strength. As a bonus, it helps the company bolster its reputation as a leader in renewable energy development in the region.
