Tokyo Startup InfiniMind Transforms Video Data into Business Insights with $5.8 Million Funding

InfiniMind, a venture-backed Tokyo-based startup, is changing the way companies are able to make sense of their video data. Former Google Japan co-workers Aza Kai and Hiraku Yanagita quickly founded InfiniMind. They potently built infrastructure that turns petabytes of unviewed, non-structured video/audio data into highly structured, highly query-able business data. The startup recently raised a $5.8 million seed round. This investment enables them to take their inventive solutions broader with both the media and retail industries.

The round was led by UTEC, a Boston-based social venture capital firm. They were accompanied by CX2, Headline Asia, Chiba Dojo & an AI researcher from a16z Scout. This funding will help propel InfiniMind forward as it deepens the development of its technology and strengthens its position in the market.

TV Pulse, InfiniMind’s flagship product, was first released in Japan in early April 2025. This revolutionary new software analyzes TV content automatically and in real time. It enables media and retail businesses with unparalleled intelligence on product visibility, brand exposure, consumer perception, and the impact of public relations campaigns.

As Googlers, my cofounder and I saw an inflection point coming down the pike. Having led brand and data solutions for 10 years at Google Japan, he and I sensed the paradigm shift together. said Aza Kai. “We recognized the potential to unlock vast amounts of unutilized data.”

One of InfiniMind’s technology innovations has been to address the struggle of “dark data.” The latter is about the goldmine of data that firms collect but almost never leverage properly. InfiniMind turns these underutilized assets into powerful, actionable insights. This helps level the playing field, allowing even the smallest of businesses to base their decisions on robust data analysis.

The decision to relocate InfiniMind’s headquarters to the United States reflects the company’s ambition to expand its reach. It will keep an office in Japan, which has offered a conducive environment for startups. The country has impressive hardware capabilities that include access to engineers and an environment where technological innovation can be tested.

Japan offered an ideal testbed for our technology,” said Kai. We can use our prototype stage to refine our product with the most exacting of customers before we take it worldwide.

TV Pulse not only centers on the visual analysis of the content but involves audio, sound, and speech recognition. This all-encompassing strategy allows the platform to handle an infinite combination of video lengths. It achieves this without sacrificing cost-efficiency, an important differentiator in a market where many current solutions prioritize accuracy or targeted use cases.

In addition, we combine audio, sound and speech understanding, not just visual,” elucidated Kai. Our system is able to support long unlimited length of video, and cost efficiency is a key differentiator.

Looking ahead, InfiniMind’s long-term vision is a lofty one. The founders aim to push the boundaries of technology to better understand reality and assist humans in making better decisions.

“This is an exciting space, one of the paths toward AGI,” Kai remarked. So at the end of the day understanding general video intelligence is really about understanding our reality. Industrial applications are definitely a component of interest, but our end game is really to expand the limits of technology.”

InfiniMind is continuing to improve its product and grow as a startup in the competitive data analysis space. Combined with these efforts, it is particularly well-positioned to revolutionize the way that businesses leverage video data as a powerful strategic advantage. In the months ahead, we’ll all find out how effectively InfiniMind puts its money and technological advances to work. Their capacity to meet the test of the perils of dark data will be created.
