Sunraycer and e-STORAGE Team Up for Major Battery Storage Projects in Texas

Additionally, Sunraycer recently approached e-STORAGE about collaborating on two large scale battery storage projects in Texas. Collectively, these inimitable projects are known as the Lupinus projects. The construction of Lupinus 1 is planned to begin in the first quarter 2027. We expect commercial operations to begin by the third quarter of that year. Construction of the second Lupinus 2 is scheduled to start in Q3 of 2026. We’re anticipating revenue operations to begin in the second quarter of 2027.

The Lupinus projects will cumulatively deliver 503 total megawatt-hours (MWh) of direct current, making federal-state collaborative efforts a key part of Texas’s energy future. Lupinus 1 will have a capacity of 202 MWh, and Lupinus 2 is equipped to provide 301 MWh.

Their projects are all geared toward improving the resiliency and reliability of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) grid. The main grid We love this grid, and it brings electric power flow to millions of Texans. In particular, Lillefloren highlighted how crucial battery storage is in allowing a smoother, faster transition to renewable energy and other clean sources.

“Partnering with e-STORAGE on the Lupinus projects represents a significant step forward in Sunraycer’s mission to advance sustainable energy infrastructure across Texas and beyond.” – David Lillefloren, Sunraycer CEO

The collaboration between e-STORAGE and Sunraycer is just one example of a broader movement towards smart energy that embraces innovation while focusing on sustainability. The reality is that Texas has led the entire nation in renewable energy production. Innovations such as the Lupinus projects are to thank for keeping our energy supply safe, stable, and reliable.

“These projects both strengthen the reliability of the ERCOT grid and underscore the critical role of battery storage in supporting the clean energy transition.” – David Lillefloren, Sunraycer CEO

Given the expected construction schedules for each facility, advocates and community members should stay alert to ongoing developments. Once both Lupinus projects are expected to go into operation, that will be a tremendous accomplishment. These steps will drive Texas, and the nation, toward a cleaner, more diversified, and more resilient energy future.

With the construction timelines set for both facilities, stakeholders and community members are encouraged to follow developments closely. The expected operational dates for both Lupinus projects will mark an important milestone in Texas’s journey toward a more robust and sustainable energy future.
