Ring, the home security company famous for its doorbell camera and other smart home technology, has a great idea! They’re rolling out their “Search Party” find-your-lost-pet feature to help dog owners who don’t have a Ring camera edge with the service. This new initiative will leverage the company’s deep bench of camera feeds. It will increase community engagement in local pet recovery efforts.
Smartphone tools like the “Search Party” feature give more power to local neighborhoods. For one, it makes it simple for users to share lost dog posts across the now ubiquitous Neighbors app. All Ring customers in the U.S. should be able to use this feature immediately. Soon, it will be available to those who don’t have Ring cameras, too. The effort embodies Ring’s belief in the power of community and that when communities come together they can do great things, especially when it matters most.
Sarah Perez, a very busy reporter at TechCrunch since August 2011, wrote all this up in wonderful detail. With a rich history in I.T., she has developed technology for the banking, retail and software sectors. This varied experience provides her with a distinct viewpoint when reporting on technology innovation.
In her coverage, Perez highlighted the significance of this feature for pet owners, stating, “Now, pet owners can mobilize the whole community and communities are empowered to help to find lost pets more effectively than ever before.”
Ring has also partnered with non-profits like Petco Love and Best Friends Animal Society. This collaboration is a testament to Ring’s continued dedication to animal welfare. The company is still actively seeking other partners to help expand its community-focused efforts so stay tuned.
The announcement comes on the eve of TechCrunch’s 2026 Real Estate Sessions, taking place in Boston, MA on June 23, 2026. This public event will connect the academy and industry with the public, opening up a critical platform for dialogue about how emerging technologies are impacting our society.
