Bolna Secures $6.3M Funding to Enhance AI Voice Orchestration for Enterprises

>Bolna, a pioneering startup focused on transforming experiences with AI voice technologies, has raised $6.3 million in a successful seed round. We’re happy General Catalyst led this creative and exciting funding round. This funding accelerates the company’s vision to build the first orchestration layer. It will connect and control multiple AI voice technologies, providing a simple way for companies to add voice agents to their business.

Bolna was launched with the mission of making voice tech more accessible. Through our platform, anyone from hobbyists to large enterprises can design voice agents simply by dictating the functions they need. By doing so, this approach eliminates the burden of technology comprehension from users. Today, it’s been made so easy that small to mid-sized businesses can get started and enjoy the benefits of advanced voice capabilities.

Bolna provides a self-serve platform that gives users the ability to create and develop their voice agents quickly and at scale. The startup has a distinctive startup-style military unit of dedicated, entrepreneurial, forward-deployed engineers. They partner deeply with their biggest enterprise customers to provide customized solutions. Bolna’s focus now is on chasing larger enterprise deals. So far, they’ve onboarded two of the Fortune 500 as paying customers and are in pilot programs with four additional large enterprises.

One of Bolna’s secret sauces is its orchestration layer, which allows companies to pivot among generative AIs with the flip of a switch. This level of flexibility is immensely important to enterprises as it provides them the necessary agility to transform at the speed of today’s changing technology. Bolna’s technology today manages more than 200,000 calls per day. We’re about to cross the $700k (in ARR) threshold!

The company’s revenue trajectory is shooting up. This has been a steady $25,000/month increase recurring for the last several months. About 75% of Bolna’s revenue is from self-serve customers, a testament to the product’s attractiveness to smaller businesses looking for streamlined, effective solutions.

Bolna’s diverse client base includes notable names such as car reselling platform Spinny, on-demand house-help startup Snabbit, beverage companies, and dating apps. The platform boasts features like speaking numbers in English, keypad input for longer responses, and noise cancellation, enhancing the user experience.

Akarsh Shrivastava, one of Bolna’s stakeholders, emphasized the flexibility of the platform:

“Bolna allows you the freedom to choose any model and has a stack behind it to mould it according to your requirement. It’s a good option for people who want to own some part of the stack, want flexibility in model picking, and want to be able to maintain those products themselves.”

Wagh expressed skepticism regarding market acceptance.

“Our platform allows customers to switch models easily or even use different models for different locales to get the best out of them. An orchestration layer is necessary for enterprises to ensure they are getting the best models because one model can be better today and another one can be better tomorrow.”

Bolna’s recent Pre-Series A funding with continued development and hiring efforts show a clear commitment to innovating within the expanding AI voice technology industry. With its growing portfolio of enterprise clients and robust self-serve offerings, Bolna is positioning itself as a significant player in the evolving market.

“Great to see that you have a product that can create realistic voice agents, but Indian enterprises are not going to pay, and you are not going to make money out of this.”

Bolna’s recent funding and ongoing development efforts indicate a strong commitment to innovating within the AI voice technology landscape. With its growing portfolio of enterprise clients and robust self-serve offerings, Bolna is positioning itself as a significant player in the evolving market.
