Nextracker Arabia is now open for business! This collaboration between Abunayyan and Nextracker is designed to revolutionize the solar energy market across Saudi Arabia and the greater MENA area. The new company will produce and distribute next-generation solar tracking systems and technology. This ambitious initiative fits like a glove with the country’s ambitious renewable energy goals, most notably the Vision 2030 plan.
Headquartered in Riyadh, Nextracker Arabia aims to build a 42,000 square meter manufacturing facility in Jeddah. Construction will be just about three times the cost of this facility and is projected to open in Q2 2026. It is projected to deliver up to 12 gigawatts (GW) per year. The joint venture initially plans to invest $88 million (SR330 million) in the first two years. This funding will be realized through a combination of private equity and debt financing.
The combined investment will anchor the creation of advanced manufacturing capabilities and increased technical know-how in the region. Nextracker Arabia’s solar tracker systems are set to be implemented in large-scale renewable energy projects throughout the MENA region, thereby contributing significantly to Saudi Arabia’s renewable energy aspirations.
Nextracker Arabia’s establishment is crucial in increasing the share of renewables in Saudi Arabia’s energy mix. The facility is responsible for ensuring the production creates up to 2,000 jobs. Beyond that, it will help foster engineering talent in local areas and further the goal of industrializing the nation.
TCI’s CEO Turki Al-Amri further elaborated on the strategic vision behind the manufacturing facility, emphasizing,
“Making energy and water supply readily accessible, sustainable and affordable is essential to the continued economic and social development of Saudi Arabia and our partners across the region. It is also central to the core values and DNA of Abunayyan Holding.”
Nextracker, part of this joint venture, has already established a robust global presence with over 150 GW of solar trackers installed worldwide. The new venture will draw on this knowledge to help meet the growing demand for renewable energy technologies. Yet it pointedly focuses on Saudi Arabia and its GCC neighbors.
“Our manufacturing facility represents the first step in our strategic vision to strengthen and localise the solar supply chain for our partners across the MENA region and enhance collaboration to deliver highly efficient and cost-effective clean energy.”
