Treaty Oak Clean Energy of Austin, Texas has officially broken ground on two large solar projects in Louisiana. The Beekman Solar Project and the Hollis Creek Solar Project, welcome to the pipeline! Together, these initiatives will bring online a whopping 385 megawatts of alternating current (MWac) capacity. Together, they will more than double the state’s renewable energy portfolio.
At 185 MWac, the Beekman Solar Project in Morehouse Parish is the state’s largest solar project. It was able to nail down its financial close in late November 2025. Unlike Mississippi’s project, the Hollis Creek Solar Project — located in neighboring Sabine Parish — closed its financing last month. Both projects are currently scheduled to enter commercial operation in the first half of 2027.
Once up and running, these solar installations will produce enough energy to power the equivalent of about 80,000 homes. By focusing on solar, they’ll add to Louisiana’s renewable energy capacity and generate local economic development at the same time. The projects are expected to create or support approximately 300 jobs at peak construction periods, providing major boosts to local economies.
Treaty Oak Clean Energy has partnered with Nextpower. They’ll provide tracking technology for both builds, maximizing their efficiency and output. Both the Beekman and Hollis Creek projects will be in operation for decades to come. Together they’ll produce more than $100 million in state and local taxes, delivering major fiscal benefits to the localities.
Chris Elrod, CEO of Treaty Oak, owns the importance of these developments. He underscored their necessity, particularly given today’s tough economic environment for renewables.
“Closing the financing for these two projects during a challenging economic year for renewable energy projects underscores our strong business model and commitment to bringing energy independence to states like Louisiana.” – Chris Elrod, Treaty Oak CEO
Elrod extended his appreciation to the collective teams behind these projects, emphasizing the example of teamwork that has fostered the development of these projects.
“I am incredibly proud of our teams and grateful to our financing partners, suppliers, and vendors for their collaboration in making these projects a reality while supporting our commitment to build a US-based supply chain for our customers.” – Chris Elrod, Treaty Oak CEO
