Treaty Oak Clean Energy Breaks Ground on 385MW Solar Projects in Louisiana

Treaty Oak Clean Energy today has formally begun construction on two new large utility scale solar generating facilities in Louisiana. It’s a huge leap in accelerating the state’s transition toward a renewable energy economy. The Beekman Solar Project and the Hollis Creek Solar Project will produce a combined capacity of 385 megawatts (MW). This contribution helps the region meet its growing clean energy needs.

The Beekman Solar Project in Morehouse Parish has a capacity of 185 MW alternating current (MWac). This project achieved financial close in late November 2025, allowing construction to commence shortly thereafter. The Hollis Creek Solar Project is also located in Sabine Parish and has big teeth, coming in at 200 MWac. As of last month, the project recently closed its financing successfully. Nextpower’s advanced tracker technology will be used across the Hollis Creek Solar Project, increasing its overall efficiency.

Currently, both projects are under the assumption they’ll start commercial service in the first half of 2027. Together, these facilities will produce enough energy to power over 80,000 homes. This output, combined with the positive impacts on a mined-in-Louisiana workforce, will greatly benefit Louisiana’s burgeoning energy supply.

Not only will these renewable energy projects help provide clean energy, they promise to provide significant economic returns. Further, over their operational lifetimes they are expected to produce more than $100 million in new state and local taxes. Combined, these initiatives will create approximately 300 jobs at peak periods of construction. This among several factors underscores Treaty Oak’s deep commitment to investing in the region and creating meaningful jobs.

Chris Elrod, CEO of Treaty Oak Clean Energy, expressed pride in the company’s progress despite challenges in the renewable energy sector.

“Closing the financing for these two projects during a challenging economic year for renewable energy projects underscores our strong business model and commitment to bringing energy independence to states like Louisiana.” – Chris Elrod, Treaty Oak CEO

Elrod too, while grateful we could collectively celebrate these projects, recognized the teamwork that went into getting them here.

“I am incredibly proud of our teams and grateful to our financing partners, suppliers, and vendors for their collaboration in making these projects a reality while supporting our commitment to build a US-based supply chain for our customers.” – Chris Elrod, Treaty Oak CEO
