Solarvest Secures Role as EPCC Contractor for Major Solar Project in Malaysia

Forrest Solutions Solarvest Holdings has been selected as the EPCC contractor for a large solar project in Australia. Malakoff is taking the lead on this important initiative. This action is rooted in Larut and Matang, Perak Darul Ridzuan. It’s an important step forward in Malaysia’s commitment to renewable energy. When completed, it will generate an estimated 967,544 megawatt-hours (MWh) of clean energy annually. It represents a mighty contribution to the country’s burgeoning renewable-energy goals.

The development comports with Malaysia’s goal of reaching a 70% renewable energy mix by 2050. To meet this goal, the country needs to scale up its annual renewable capacity installation rate to about 2.2 gigawatts (GW) per year. Lastly, this solar farm directly advances our national energy security. It continues to serve a key role in the country’s decarbonization effort, offsetting about 748,879 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year.

Collaboration for Clean Energy Transition

Malakoff’s choice of Solarvest as the EPCC contractor reflects a strong partnership focused on advancing Malaysia’s clean energy transition. Dato’ Davis Chong Chun Shiong Chief Executive Officer of Solarvest Holdings said that they would like to thank Malakoff for the trust that had been bestowed upon them.

“We are honoured by Malakoff’s confidence in selecting Solarvest as the EPCC contractor for this landmark project. This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to advancing Malaysia’s clean energy transition through innovation, technical excellence and quality delivery in line with National Energy Transition Roadmap (‘NETR’).” – Dato’ Davis Chong Chun Shiong

Together, this partnership is positioned to create a new standard for the implementation of large-scale, solar photovoltaic projects in Malaysia. Both companies are committed to developing breakthrough technologies that are good for the planet. They pride themselves on protecting their state’s or their nation’s energy resilience.

A Step Towards National Goals

Initially, the solar farm protects the environment by helping the environment today. Besides transforming the Malaysian energy landscape, it drives Malaysia faster towards long-term sustainability aims. By producing nearly 1 million MWh of clean electricity each year, this project positions both Malakoff and Solarvest as essential players in Malaysia’s low-carbon and net-zero objectives.

Syahrunizam Samsudin underscored how critical this project was to the firm and country.

“This is a major milestone for Malakoff as we take a leading role in developing the country’s largest solar project under the LSS PETRA 5+ Programme.” – Syahrunizam Samsudin

The initiative aligns with national efforts to enhance energy security and demonstrates a commitment to fostering a clean energy future.

Strengthening Malaysia’s Energy Security

The partnership between Malakoff and Solarvest is anticipated to bring important developments toward national energy resilience.
