IBM and Anthropic Join Forces to Revolutionize Enterprise Software Development

IBM today made the formal announcement of a strategic partnership with Anthropic. Together, their goal is to infuse cutting-edge artificial intelligence into IBM’s software solutions. As of October 7th, 2025 our partnership with the U.S. Anthropic’s Claude large language model family will be embedded throughout IBM’s products, beginning with our integrated development environment (IDE). The IDE is currently in limited availability to a private beta group of customers. This is a big deal for improving the development of enterprise software.

The collaboration arrives during one of the fastest growing moments of enterprise AI investments. In July, Menlo Ventures released a survey showing that enterprise customers favor Anthropic’s Claude models. They picked these models over competitors, including OpenAI’s proprietary offerings. This preference further aligns with Anthropic’s ongoing attempts to penetrate the enterprise market. This advance follows the launch of Claude Enterprise, launched in September 2024.

Anthropic has done quite a lot behind the scenes to cement its influence among corporate interests. The firm recently struck a partnership agreement to install its Claude models throughout Deloitte’s vast global employee base. Meaning that this workforce is made up of almost 500,000 public employees! That demand is echoed in this collaboration, the Growing AI Solutions Challenge. It’s further setting Anthropic and IBM up as titans of the quickly evolving world of enterprise tech.

The way Claude has been integrated into IBM’s software products to improve security and governance features. This issue is especially important right now as organizations of all sizes turn to trustworthy AI to automate and improve operations, and drive productivity. The synergy between IBM’s robust software infrastructure and Anthropic’s advanced AI capabilities aims to drive innovation and efficiency in enterprise software development.

Our new Claude 3.5 logo, released just this morning, represents the innovation that we believe awaits with this partnership. As IBM continues on this path with this integration, stay tuned for more cool things to come. These will showcase Claude’s abilities in practical use cases.
