Superpanel Secures $5.3 Million Seed Funding to Transform Legal Intake Processes

Superpanel is an innovative technology platform that simplifies and eases the onboarding experience for law firms. This approach has paid off, as it’s just closed $5.3 million of initial seed funding with Outlander VC and Field Ventures co-leading the round. On Tuesday, the startup Julien Emery and Dingyu Zhang cofounded hit an inflection point. This announcement is a big win for an advancing team in 2024.

With experience in lighting design and architectural design, Julien Emery brings valuable experience to Superpanel. Before that he was at Hootsuite, and he founded the health insurance underwriting platform Allay. His own experience of trying to get legal assistance himself informed his vision of building a solution. This greatly improves the legal intake process. Emery can still vividly recall the pain points that piled up on him as a young man following his mom’s car crash. The legal settlement became necessary for his family’s security.

Superpanel tackles these challenges head-on by automating the first half of your legal intake workload—smartly handling, organizing, and executing client data collection and feedback follow ups. This new, creative solution allows law firms to deliver a more streamlined experience for their clients. It addresses the emerging need for on-demand, self-service experiences fueled by generative A.I.

Dingyu Zhang is a co-founder of Superpanel. With his deep experience in AI, he’s played a key role in developing advancements the platform’s AI-powered capabilities. The funding they’ve secured will be used to speed up hiring and broaden the functionality of Superpanel, especially plaintiff law firms.

Emery explained the core functionalities of Superpanel, stating, “The result is a unified, multi-channel workflow that delivers measurable results and gives firms a system they can trust like a real employee.” And he shared how the platform is continuously and actively routing clients through their unique legal journeys. It helps them get all the academic support and resources they need.

To establish relationships with investors in this funding round, Emery drew from his network he developed while leading Allay. His first round of supporters, many of whom invested in his last startup, helped connect him to the right people who would participate in this new round of funding.

“Consumers now expect answers and solutions to be instant and self-serve, shaped by AI tools and the online experiences they use every day,” Emery noted. The platform’s design embodies this new reality, focusing on bringing legal assistance to life in a way that’s more accessible and user-friendly.
