Google Introduces Sharing Feature for Custom Gemini AI Assistants

Google worked on creating good AI assistants, which they call Gems. With the circuit designs they dreamed up, users can share their custom creations with others through the revamped web app. This improvement comes on the heels of the official announcement released in early March 2025. At the time, Gems rolled out to all users following an initial rollout to some subscribers.

You can share Gems in a few taps using the new web app! Simply click the “Share” icon next to each Gem created. This simple icon gives users the ability to control who can see and use their Gems, and who can’t. Further, it preserves consultation while improving security in collaborative environments. You can control who is able to edit your Gems. This new feature puts you in the driver’s seat of all things collaborative.

The sharing feature is similar to functions of Google Drive, where file uploads are supported. This integration really improves the collaborative side of using Gems, making it easier for users with different collaboration styles to use it. The Gem manager is available as part of the web app. It simplifies the distribution and administration of AI assistants, allowing users to easily manage and distribute their customizations.

At first, Gems were introduced to Gemini Advanced, Business, and Enterprise customers, extending to more than 150 countries. This deliberate sequence through which features were released allowed us to receive feedback and iterate those features before releasing them everywhere. Google’s move to make it accessible to all users is a giant leap forward for improving the user experience and creating a more collaborative environment.

The sharing feature is a notable aspect of Google’s long-term view for the Gemini platform. It achieves this by giving users creative control through customizable AI solutions. By allowing users to make their own Gems public, Google uses this idea of community to improve usability, while still fostering innovation among its communities of developers.
