MarqVision Secures $48 Million Series B Funding to Enhance Brand Protection

MarqVision, a prominent player in the artificial intelligence-driven brand protection sector, has successfully closed a $48 million Series B funding round. The company continues to enjoy phenomenal growth. In as little as four years from its founding, it has grown to more than $20 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR). MarqVision’s founder, Mark Lee, started up the company in 2021. Their integrated platform leverages the power of artificial intelligence and blockchain to combat counterfeiting, protecting the bottom line for more than 350 customers across fashion, gaming, pharmaceuticals, and consumer electronics industries.

The path to MarqVision has been paved with quick financial successes. That’s because the company reached $1 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR) in under the first eight months of its existence. Just three years later, it soared to $10 million! The company recently raised $28 million, an extraordinary achievement of success and momentum. This milestone shows, again, its fierce dedication to doubling revenue every year. It’s not hard to see why the company has raised about $90 million in total capital since launching, solidifying its commanding position in this hot space.

MarqVision’s unique name encapsulates its mission: “Marq” signifies trademark, while “Vision” refers to its computer vision capabilities. The company’s platform makes it possible for brands to understand and control their digital customer experience. It further protects consumers from the dangers posed by counterfeit goods sold on online marketplaces and through social media.

Mark Lee, who co-founded MarqVision with his father, attorney and filmmaker Doug Lee, shared about the company’s startup story and vision.

“I was always broadly interested in technology and startups, but I never really thought I’d be an entrepreneur,” – Mark Lee

Lee had an eye on the growing danger of counterfeiting. He discovered just how widespread this problem is while taking a trademark seminar. He pointed out that counterfeiting is an approximate $3 trillion industry globally. The pandemic has further fueled its expansion, facilitating the convergence of online and offline commerce.

“What struck me was that during COVID, as everything was moving online, this already massive market was growing 20% a year,” – Mark Lee

MarqVision’s objective is ambitious yet clear: the company aims to achieve $100 million in ARR by mid-2027. To support continued growth, MarqVision is hiring for AI and engineering talent. This acquisition will further deepen automation throughout the enterprise and position generative AI as a central pillar within its product ecosystem.

The company’s strategy to expand globally involves entering and making a mark in the Japanese market, adding more to the borderless nature of intellectual property law. This strategic leap emphasizes MarqVision’s dedication to being at the forefront of scaling its operations and tackling the complexities of protecting brands across various jurisdictions.

He pointed to the increasing demand from premier investors. These investors are interested in technology companies that leverage AI as a primary driver to change the very nature of serving residents.

“Growth could have been faster, but we prioritized two things: delivering the best customer experience and building a scalable AI-driven foundation,” – Mark Lee

That diverse customer base, which includes companies in the automotive and entertainment industries. This figure paints a clear picture of just how deep the demand is for brand control solutions across the digital marketplace today.

“Increasingly, top-tier investors are looking for technology companies that leverage AI not just to enhance productivity, but to fundamentally transform service delivery,” – Mark Lee
