Google Calendar Introduces New Feature Following Request from Stripe Co-Founder

Google has also introduced a really cool new feature in it’s Calendar app! Now it can be even easier with just a simple Ctrl-click to duplicate the event. This is the exact improvement that John Collison, co-founder of Stripe, asked for just last month. Now, at long last, it’s made its way to the web version of Google Calendar. Sundar Pichai, CEO of parent company Alphabet, touted the feature in a post on social media platform X this Wednesday.

Collison’s request on July 5, illustrating the need for a simpler method of creating calendar events close the door on that prospect. Pichai expressed his gratitude to the team for their proposal. So when he announced Google Calendar’s new watchlist feature, his declaration that “This feature is now live for everyone on Google Calendar on the web!”

The addition of this functionality is a dramatic example of how user input can change the direction of software and improve its overall capabilities. As tech industry commentators have noted, Collison’s ask is profoundly important. In the same thread, Box’s new neighbor at Caltrain Aaron Levie jokingly pushed him to convince Waymo to run their self-driving cars up El Camino through the whole peninsula.
