TechCrunch Welcomes Aisha Malik, New Consumer News Reporter

TechCrunch recently introduced the addition of Aisha Malik as its new consumer news reporter, a position she started in 2021. Palmer, who comes to the publication with a deep background in telecommunications reporting and an equally robust educational background, is a welcome addition to the publication.

Prior to joining TechCrunch, Malik was a telecom reporter at MobileSyrup. As part of this role, she reported on every facet of the quickly evolving telecommunications industry. Her time there prepared her with the knowledge and tools to have consumer technology issues handled at the right level.

Malik is a graduate of the University of Toronto, where he earned an honours bachelor’s degree. Throughout her education, she developed an impressive background in journalism and media. She kept developing her craft by getting a master’s degree in journalism from Western University. This strong academic foundation pairs with her experience to empower her to produce intelligent analysis and thorough reporting on consumer technology trends.

In her new position at TechCrunch, Malik plans to explore multiple areas. She’ll be on the lookout for emerging technologies or products that have a direct impact on consumers. Her appointment couldn’t be more timely, as the tech industry has reached a critical inflection point. For example, Roku recently released Howdy, a cool ad-less streaming service for only $2.99 a month. This new service is intended to fit alongside existing premium options — not in contention with them.

“Howdy is ad-free and designed to complement, not compete with, premium services.” – Anthony Wood, Roku founder and CEO.

Malik’s experience and dedication to consumer-focused journalism align well with TechCrunch’s mission of providing accurate and relevant technology news. She’s ambitious to expand the publication’s consumer tech coverage. Through thoughtful, detailed reporting and analysis, she’ll be engaging, entertaining, and inspiring readers.
