Nara Organics, a company dedicated to providing high-quality, organic infant formula in the United States, has successfully raised $32 million in funding. Additional investment comes from AlleyCorp, BBG Ventures, Corazon Ventures, Gingerbread Capital and Torch Capital. This historic investment is a response to increased consumer demand for cleaner, more transparent, safer options in infant nutrition.
Esther Hallam started Nara Organics after starting her own journey. She wanted to focus on brands that provided organic infant formula for her daughter, Nara. Hallam lamented the lack of products that Americans can trust to be safe and environmentally sustainable on the U.S. market.
“I became fixated by the fact that there wasn’t a good, organic infant formula that I trusted, that I wanted to feed my daughter in the United States, which is a first-world country,” – Esther Hallam
Nara Organics stands out above the rest with their dedication to safety and quality. The company’s formula is EU compliant and U.S. ASTM safety standards compliant, FDA-registered and USDA-certified. Nara Organics employs an innovative manufacturing process that they’re currently operating in Germany, the home of powdered infant formula. This scientific-based approach ensures the best possible product integrity.
Through an amazing new sealing process, the company’s production ensures a very low level of oxygen exposure. To put it plainly, this is a game-changing approach,” said Meika Hollender, Nara Organics’ Chief Marketing Officer.
“A critical piece of infant formula, in terms of its shelf life, is how much oxygen gets into the can while you’re sealing it. So if you go to facilities in the U.S., they’re open. When you’re filling, canning, and sealing the can, they’re just sort of out in the open air of the facility. And at our facility, the cans actually go into this chamber that has no oxygen in them,” – Meika Hollender
A family-owned farm, Nara Organics also prides itself on a hands-on approach to manufacturing. This enables them to produce a whole milk product developed from the ground up, with amazing guidance from scientists and pediatric nutritionists. Plus, each can makes about 25 four-ounce bottles, which is more convenient for parents.
For Nara Organics, it’s not just about product quality — social responsibility is key. The company is donating more than 1,400 cans of infant formula. Their chosen collaborator, the Good+ Foundation, is a nonprofit that combats multi-generational poverty. This collaborative effort cements the company’s work to support families affected by homelessness.
Looking at price point, Nara Organics has a starter bundle available for $36, composed of two cans of formula. Parents can select a subscription service that delivers four or six cans every four weeks. The price for the four-can option is $136 and the six-can option is $243. The product can be accessed via the company’s free mobile app, released in 2018.
Now Nara Organics has turned the eyes of many high-profile investors. Celebrities such as Serena Williams, Gina Rodriguez, Erin and Sara Foster, and Nicky Hilton have all flocked to the idea. Nicky Hilton has been sharing her story in support of consumer choice when it comes to feeding our infants.
“Every baby and parent is different, and not all mothers are able to breastfeed due to medical, physical, or personal reasons. I think there’s so much judgment and unnecessary pressure about breastfeeding… It’s really exciting to be a part of an innovative brand that is disrupting the baby formula market,” – Nicky Hilton
Nara Organics continues to expand its capacity and reach within the competitive infant formula market. The company is focused on creating safe, nutritious organic products so parents can give their children the very best.
