Navigating Identity Challenges in Mergers and Acquisitions

Ret0 Bachmann is the Technical Regional Manager at One Identity. He has more than 25 years of experience in the IT sector, with a focus on IAM and cybersecurity. His deep expertise will further strengthen our ability to address the highest order challenges of merging and acquisition (M&A). He is a master of designing identity systems and managing compliance across jurisdictions.

Bachmann brings more than 15 years of real-world experience in IAM and cybersecurity. This expertise has been equally important for the dozens of other successful implementation projects. He has designed award-winning projects for some of the world’s most prestigious firms throughout the EMEA region. This experience speaks to his talent for working through complicated business atmospheres. He knows the region’s unique challenges in IT, risk, and compliance. This expert knowledge has secured him as a local, state, and national subject-matter expert.

In his position at One Identity, Bachmann covers Austria, Switzerland and the Middle East. He uses that deep understanding to help organizations make every M&A move count and come out on top in the battle for enterprise identity. He is a graduate in Business Informatics with a Swiss Federal diploma. He obtained his diploma of higher education in Information Technology at the Technical Vocational School of Zurich. This formal educational base, along with his practical experiences, provides an enriched perspective and structure that empowers his identity practice to provide innovative solutions to identity challenges.

Bachmann’s leadership in the General Assembly has been expansive and deep. Specifically, he worked as Head of IT for Alcan Mass Transportation, a major global industrial firm. His time in these roles has afforded him a comprehensive understanding of what it takes to develop effective ISPM plans. Now, he’s responsible for developing effective remediation strategies to mitigate risks around identity management.

One of the biggest hurdles companies must overcome during M&A is the lack of visibility and control with multiple siloed identity systems to manage. Bachmann’s experience is in the management of 25+ unique identity ecosystems, allowing for smooth interoperability with little to no friction to the end-user. He provides an in-depth look into why automating the cleanup of duplicate accounts is key to an effective IAM strategy. In doing so, this move increases both security and operational efficiency.

Bachmann’s superpower certainly is identity management, which is super powerful and flexible in the hands of all sorts of users. This runs the gamut between employees, contractors, and third-party access. As a transmedia artist, CODE’s experience goes beyond human identities. This encompasses the governance of service accounts and bots that constitute essential functions in organizational ecosystems. His breadth of experience gives him unique insight to provide holistic solutions. He custom fits these solutions for the specific needs of each organization he works with.

Bachmann’s take on identity consolidation in M&A strategies is especially prescient. Unlike his predecessors, he understands that mergers offer thrilling opportunities for new horizons, growth and expansion. With these opportunities come challenges — especially around identity management. Ultimately, organizations that do not proactively tackle these challenges will find themselves in compliance-related quagmires and operational disruptions that threaten their success.

As companies continue to navigate the complexities of M&A activities, Bachmann’s insights into the importance of effective identity management become increasingly valuable. He advocates for early engagement in identity strategy discussions to ensure that organizations can proactively address potential challenges before they escalate. By learning from his deep insights and wisdom, companies can more effectively set themselves up for successful integrations.
