Waaree Energies Expands Solar Manufacturing with Major Supply Agreement in the US

Waaree Energies, one of India’s oldest and largest solar companies, has been taking major steps in the United States. That’s just what the company announced last week. Its US subsidiary Waaree Solar Americas recently won its first contract, a 599MW solar module supply agreement with an unnamed independent power producer. This landmark connectivity deal is valued at $176 million. In addition, it sets the stage for production of solar modules at Waaree’s facility in Brookshire, Texas.

The contract bolsters Waaree Energies’ plans for a massive expansion push. As for First Solar, the company is currently building a second 1.6GW solar module manufacturing plant at the Brookshire site. This expansion will bring the company’s total US manufacturing capacity to 3.2GW, expected before the end of 2025. The impetus for the change is to meet increasing domestic and commercial demand for high-quality, American-made solar modules.

Commitment to Clean Energy

Waaree Solar Americas president, Sunil Rathi, hailed the importance of this agreement, highlighting that

“This agreement is a strong testament to Waaree’s commitment to developing a robust, US-based clean energy ecosystem.”

This expansion partnership accelerates Waaree’s charge towards the US solar market. Moreover, it reflects our common vision to help accelerate America’s energy transition with safe, reliable, high-performance solar technology.

Rathi continued to tout the company’s track record of supporting its partners’ aggressive energy targets. The company notes that it is equally committed to job creation and maintaining a secure supply.

“Our Brookshire facility is uniquely positioned to meet rising demand with high-quality, American-made modules,” he added.

Meeting Growing Demand

The need for solar technology has greatly increased. This demand is largely being pushed by three factors: AI boom, infrastructure modernization, and industrial electrification. Impressively, Waaree Energies has notched up 1.2GW in new orders in just the first quarter of 2025/26. This matters because it includes one of the largest ever announced long-term Power Purchase Agreements (586MW supply deal, deliveries beginning in 2026 and beyond).

We are committed to scalable solutions. We constantly adjust our products to suit the changing market demands of our US partners. The company is using the decades of production know-how from India, their solar manufacturing hub, to expand the availability and affordability of innovative solar solutions for Americans.

Future Prospects

Meanwhile, Waaree Energies is having its Brookshire facility expanded and signing new supply agreements. Together, these moves serve to lay the foundation for the company to emerge as a major player in the rapidly growing US renewable energy market. In doing so, the company is pursuing ways to improve its service portfolio for utility-scale solar and commercial & industrial solar projects.

Rathi concluded by stating,

“This partnership reflects our shared vision to accelerate America’s energy transition through dependable, high-performance solar technology. Backed by decades of manufacturing excellence in India, we’re proud to support our US partners with scalable solutions tailored to this evolving market.”
