EthosEnergy wins the largest single contract in its history! They will deliver O&M services for the Manzanillo Power Plant, now being built in Pepillo Salcedo, Montecristi province. This visioning project is the biggest of its kind in the Dominican Republic’s border province. Today, it is strategically located within the Manzanillo Port development, literally in the shadow of its natural gas terminal, reception pier and breakwater.
The Manzanillo Power Plant will operate as an example of the industry’s latest technology. It will include a Siemens Energy SGT6-8000H gas turbine paired with an SST6-3000 steam turbine. The $2.9 billion project is scheduled to begin revenue service in late 2025. This launch marks a historic investment in the region’s energy infrastructure. The plant is projected to become the most energy efficient combined cycle plant in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Jaime Santana Bonetti, chairman of Energia 2000, chose EthosEnergy to take on the operations, maintenance, care, custody and operational control of the project. He pointed to the firm’s demonstrated experience as the most important consideration in this decision. Moreover, he stressed their forward and adaptable thinking concerning risk management.
“We chose EthosEnergy for the care, custody and control of the Manzanillo project because of their proven experience and proactive and flexible approach to risk management. Once operational, this new facility will reset the bar for state-of-the-art energy efficiency in Latin America and the Caribbean.” – Jaime Santana Bonetti
EthosEnergy believes in taking smart, innovative risks while managing them. This provides the company with an invaluable experience to deal with the pitfalls and challenges associated with a large-scale energy project. This new three-year contract represents the company’s first detailed contract for third-party care, custody and control. It is part and parcel of the company’s growing influence over the energy transition.
Luis Vintimilla, EthosEnergy Business Development Manager, is enthusiastic about the partnership with Energia 2000. He insists that a dependable energy supply is fundamental to the Dominican Republic.
