Since then, Amazon has officially launched its own generative AI-powered tool, Enhance My Listing. This tool allows merchants to optimize their product listings by filling in missing information and characteristics. The tool will become generally available to all eligible sellers in the United States on May 8, 2025. An eventual broader launch is expected in coming weeks.
This exciting new tool comes on the heels of Amazon launching a product listing creation tool in March of 2024. That last tool enabled sellers to create a product listing by just copying and pasting a URL from their own sites. Enhance My Listing takes this functionality a step further, with the intent of making it easier to update product information directly. Furthermore, thousands of these sellers operate hundreds of active listings on the platform and need streamlined ways to maintain their product information.
Amazon claims the new tool has already seen an above-average adoption among merchants. In fact, research shows that more than 9 out of 10 sellers don’t even bother to edit AI-generated content before accepting it. This statistic highlights the potential for Enhance My Listing to significantly reduce the time and effort merchants invest in managing their product information.
The introduction of Enhance My Listing comes amid a growing trend where various companies are integrating generative AI into marketing practices. Startups like Avataar and Superscale are building AI-enabled apps to help creators and sellers generate marketing assets at scale, too. Google recently launched some generative AI tools for product imagery, first for U.S. advertisers. At the same time, eBay launched a new tool that automatically generates product listings directly from photos. Now, Meta has enhanced its advertiser-facing AI tools by allowing advertisers to not only change or create new backgrounds, but to create entirely new images.
Shopify, meanwhile, is preparing to roll out a generative AI photo editor. This short-term implementation addresses a larger long-term trend where players in the e-commerce space continue to recognize the benefits and advantages advanced technologies can create. Next, Amazon’s Enhance My Listing tool is a significant breakthrough in making this process easy for merchants. It would make product information much clearer and more meaningful for consumers, helping support their purchasing decisions.
