TikTok Stars Transition to Television with New Series on Peacock

Peacock is getting ready to premiere an exciting new slate of programming! Then, on May 19, we’ll see the debut of four TikTok creators’ original series. NBCUniversal’s new Creator to Creator initiative turns social media influencers into television show producers. This shift reinforces TikTok’s positioning as the “new TV,” a phrase widely credited to Wired.

As the Hollywood Reporter covered last week, those future shows represent a strikingly ambitious kaleidoscope of themes and creative visions. One of those new titles is The Warehouse Phase, created by Charlie Curtis-Beard. With a distinctive premise and bold storytelling, this series will capture and hold audiences like few others, creating a smoldering cultural flashpoint.

A second impactful series is “The Kouncil,” developed by Katie Florence, who has been consistently and successfully promoting her work on her own TikTok account. It’s Florence’s distinctive style and undeniable talent for engaging and entertaining her followers that have made her an instant success in taking her talents to the small screen.

Serena Kerrigan, acclaimed for her entertaining and vivacious aesthetic across social media platforms, focuses that lens with “Older Hotter Wiser.” It is our hope that this series touches on themes of empowerment and self-discovery that will resonate with all people, young and old.

Daren Vongirdner completes the quartet with “People Like Me,” inspired by his work as a popular TikTok creator. Since then, Vongirdner has amassed half a million followers on the platform. His transition to television is just the latest example of influencers going beyond social media.

This initiative also foreshadows the recent rise of Boman Martinez-Reid, a TikTok star known for his impersonations of the Kardashians. Just this past week, he landed the lead in a television series, showing clearly the fertile blending of public media with the digital age.

“Group Chat,” the other TikTok show, has really taken off. Its creator even made an appearance on the Today Show. This TikTok success exemplifies how niche TikTok content can cross over into the mainstream and resonate with broader audiences.

The addition of these creators to the television landscape serves as a reminder of how TikTok and similar technology are revolutionizing the entertainment industry. As NBCUniversal continues to invest in this new talent pool, it paves the way for innovative storytelling that reflects modern culture and social dynamics.
