Cypress Creek Renewables has officially started construction of the Ostrea solar project in Yakima County, Washington. This important advance, fully funded and permitted, is the company’s first project to surmount this milestone in-state. The Ostrea solar project is a formidable 104 megawatt (MW) solar capacity. With that funding, it’s going to play a big role in helping the region’s clean energy goals take shape.
The Ostrea solar project was able to get roughly $150 million in financing. MUFG Bank also served an important role as the coordinating lead arranger on this construction financing. This financial backing provides Cypress Creek Renewables with the confidence necessary to advance the project. Its goal is to produce enough electricity to annually supply between 15,000 and 16,000 average Washington homes.
As construction gets underway, the Ostrea solar project is expected to create about 250 construction jobs. This transformative infrastructure investment will help to grow the local economy immensely. The project would produce as much as $15 million in new tax revenue. This revenue will assist Yakima County for the full operational lifespan of the project.
Cypress Creek Renewables, under the leadership of CEO Sarah Slusser, is dedicated to enhancing renewable energy infrastructure across the United States. The Ostrea solar project fulfills part of the company’s mission and shows its determination to developing sustainable energy solutions.
The project is currently positioned to reach commercial operation by mid-2026, helping to accelerate Washington’s transition to cleaner, more sustainable energy sources. As it moves forward, the Ostrea solar project will play a vital role in meeting the state’s energy demands while contributing to environmental sustainability.
