Blinq, a startup based in Melbourne, has successfully raised $25 million in a Series A funding round led by Touring Capital. It started out as a hobby project, but went live in 2017 as Blinq. Since then, it’s rapidly grown into one of the top players in the digital business card market. This funding will allow the company to grow its product and footprint in the booming smart cities and transportation market.
Blinq to build your digital business card. And with its customizable QR-code widget, users can conveniently share their contact information! The app caught on widely, particularly starting in late 2019 when new capabilities in Android devices made reading QR codes easier and more convenient. This innovative step has significantly improved user experience, engagement and adoption.
Today, Blinq is seeing overwhelming success with more than 2.5 million users. This means the average residential customer and approximately 500,000 commercial businesses spanning the U.S., Canada, U.K., and Australia. Interestingly, close to 80% of Blinq’s client base is located in the United States. The app makes it incredibly simple to share contact information. It connects smoothly with widely used CRM platforms, such as HubSpot and Salesforce, streamlining the process of capturing and syncing user data.
Blnq transforms the process of networking, leveraging art, technology and a few other creative tools. These options are QR codes, email signatures, NFCs, short links and interactive video call backgrounds. This wealth of options gives users the ability to pick and select different approaches and calculation methods to get the information that’s most important to them.
Just look at how fast the company has grown! From those early days with a team of just five in Melbourne, they now comprise a truly diverse workforce of 67 across offices in Sydney, New York and San Francisco. This expansion marks a significant step in Blinq’s growth, as the company continues to build upon its operations and service offerings.
Jerrod Webb, CEO and founder of Blinq, highlighted the transformative power of the platform to change the way users network. He stated, “Every time someone uses Blinq, they’re introducing it to someone new. And further, we see more frequent usage by active users the longer they’re on the platform.”
After all, the competitive landscape for digital business cards is becoming increasingly crowded. Similar services are now being offered by companies such as Mobilo, Popl, Wave and even Wix. What sets Blinq apart is their apparent commitment to creating genuine relationships. Webb elaborated on this strategy: “They’re our wedge. Because when you are the trusted tool at the moment a relationship begins, you earn the right to shape what follows. We’re focused on giving people everything they need to turn first impressions into real momentum — from dynamic, context-rich profiles to smart ways to stay top of mind.”
The funding will help Blinq execute its plans to grow into additional markets and further establish its reach within business and enterprise sectors. Networking is changing faster than ever in our new digital world. As technology evolves, so does Blinq, dedicated to providing cutting-edge solutions that improve the way we connect.
