Sunraycer, a leader in the global renewable energy transition, just announced a buzzing new partnership with Meta. Together, they’re a powerful coalition to help move solar energy projects forward in the Lone Star State. This collaboration will facilitate the construction of two major solar initiatives: the Midpoint project in Hill County and the Gaia project in Navarro County. These projects will provide an immensely helpful shot in the arm to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) grid. Together, they will provide 240.5 megawatts of alternating current (MWac).
Sunraycer has a robust 4 gigawatts alternating current (GWac) of solar and battery plants under development. We are passionate about providing top quality, utility-scale solar projects. The Midpoint project is expected to begin commercial operations in the late fourth quarter of 2025. It’s planned to provide 97.5 MWac to ERCOT. The second phase of the Gaia project is continuing, including coordinating its implementation timeline with Midpoint. It will strengthen the state’s energy grid by introducing an additional 143 MWac.
As David Lillefloren, CEO of Sunraycer pointed out at the time, this technical partnership was crucial.
“This partnership with Meta underscores our commitment to delivering high-quality, utility-scale solar projects that drive the transition to clean energy.” – David Lillefloren, Sunraycer CEO
The partnership further represents an important stride towards Meta’s ambitious sustainability and net zero goals. Urvi Parekh, global head of energy at Meta, said they were thrilled to have such a partnership on board.
“We’re excited to support Sunraycer’s efforts to bring two solar projects to the grid in Texas. These projects will support our goals to match our operations with 100% clean and renewable energy.” – Urvi Parekh, Meta global head of energy
Sunraycer also recently announced it has received a $475 million project financing facility to help fund these activities. This increases its total capital to an even more staggering $675 million since November 2024. This level of financial backing will prove indispensable in accelerating the development of its solar projects.
Collectively, these projects will provide immediate benefits for ERCOT. Furthermore, Sunraycer’s growth strategy is based on creating mutually benefitting long-term partnerships/relationships with commercial banks, project developers, plants’ manufacturers and all players within the ambit of clean energy value chain. The company’s focus on quality and sustainability makes them a key provider to help drive the energy transition forward to clean energy.
