TRENDE Advances Japan’s Renewable Future with $7.1 Million Funding

TRENDE, a prominent renewable energy solutions provider in Japan, has successfully secured approximately Y1.07 billion ($7.1 million) in a funding round orchestrated through third-party allocation. The round was spearheaded by Tokyo Century, a key partner whose collaboration will focus on finance and asset management to bolster renewable energy leasing services.

The newly acquired capital will be pivotal in expanding TRENDE's solar power generation system and storage battery leasing business, known as Teraris. Furthermore, the funds will support TRENDE's peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading platform, enhancing its capacity to drive Japan toward a decentralised, low-carbon future.

Four strategic partners have joined as new shareholders through this investment round: Tokyo Century, the National Federation of Agricultural Cooperative Associations (ZEN-NOH), Zennoh Energy, and Toshiba Infrastructure Systems & Solutions.

TRENDE CEO Masashi Nishio expressed enthusiasm about the new partnerships.

“We are thrilled to welcome these esteemed companies as strategic investors and partners. Their expertise and resources will significantly enhance our ability to deliver innovative renewable energy solutions at scale. Together, we aim to accelerate Japan’s transition toward a decentralised, low-carbon future.” – Masashi Nishio, TRENDE CEO

ZEN-NOH and Zennoh Energy are contributing to TRENDE's efforts through the Smart Agri community project. This initiative includes a pilot P2P electricity trading project in Gunma Prefecture under the JA Denki retail electricity brand. Additionally, Toshiba's vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology is being integrated with TRENDE's P2P electricity trading platform, enhancing local renewable energy utilization.

Moreover, TRENDE has partnered with Toshiba Infrastructure Systems & Solutions for a digital implementation acceleration project in Ehime Prefecture, further demonstrating their commitment to advancing renewable energy solutions across Japan.
