Threads Surges to 350 Million Users Marking Significant Growth in Q1 2025

We’re all on Instagram’s Threads train which just recently surpassed over 350 million monthly active users according to CEO Mark Zuckerberg. The Meta CEO shared this statistic during the company’s Q1 2025 earnings call, celebrating the platform’s phenomenal expansion. That wave features an increase of 30 million new subscribers within the first three months of 2025 alone.

Now, the new kid on the block, Threads, is pulling new users at an even more blistering pace. In its fourth quarter of 2024, it added 20 million new subscribers! This massive growth, which seems to perfectly sync with the platform’s overarching path, has made TikTok a true and powerful competitor even among the social media giants. In our most recent analysis of user growth, Threads nearly equaled the number of users Bluesky has amassed ever in only one quarter. As of this week, Bluesky has only about 35 million total users.

Given this rapid momentum, Threads has a huge opportunity to become a very competitive alternative to the current dominant platforms. Zuckerberg emphasized this point, stating that Threads “continues to be on track to become our next major social app.” This claim is representative of Meta’s overall confidence in the platform’s future, as well as its strategic importance within the company’s portfolio.

In the last quarter, Threads announced reaching 320 million users, an impressive turnaround. X has an impressive user base of more than 600 million, or so CEO Linda Yaccarino claims. Their immense youth following further increases the cutthroat competition between social platforms.

As Threads continues to grow, it appears poised to challenge other platforms while reshaping social media engagement. That addition of millions of new users does not just represent growing their relevance, but growing their user attractive platform.
